Euro 2016 Shootout Quiz released to test most ardent of football fans during European Championships

Pit your wits against your mates and strike for the global leaderboard in the pre-tournament warm-up quiz, then blast them out of the park in the ‘16 Question Shootout’ – with Qs in real-time about events as they unfold

Free on iOS and Android, it’s been created by Leicester City fans riding high on the feelgood football wave

Football fans rejoice. The thrills and spills of watching this summer’s most eagerly-anticipated sporting event has just got quizzical… with the launch of soccer’s toughest test on the planet.

The Euro 2016 Shootout Quiz enables competitors to see how they match up against friends and users from around the world, answering questions about the Euro action as it happens, as well as tackling a devilish mix of European football’s toughest trivia questions.

The Euro 2016 Shootout Quiz, designed by StackZero, is the only quiz app dedicated to the Euros.

Available from today, it will feature a pre-tournament warm-up quiz as well as a knockout 16 Question Shootout during the tournament, which kicks off in Paris on June 10th.

The ‘warm-up stages’ consist of 30 separate quizzes on the history of the tournament, with each stage becoming progressively longer and harder. Users will have to get a minimum number of answers right on each stage to progress.

But be warned – with quick-fire questions including “Who was the manager of England at Euro ‘80?” and “How many groups were drawn at UEFA Euro 2016?”, only the most genned-up footie fans will stand a chance to beat the rest of the world.

The 16 Question Shootout, which begins after the first matches are played, tests your knowledge on the games that have just been completed. It’s a straight, shootout round. Get the questions right or be prepared to face the music from your mates.

Users can share their scores on Facebook with their friends or post their results on a global leaderboard – a great way of comparing stats and trying to compete against your pals in an ultimate test of football wits.

The app may have never been developed had it not been for Leicester City’s sensational Premier League title grab.

Robert Saville, Founder of StackZero based in Leicester, said: “We’re all Leicester City fans here and the Foxes’ winning the Premier League title means there is a big buzz around the Leicester players who will be playing in the Euros. We somehow wanted to be a part of it, so came up with the idea of creating an app.

“We didn’t just want to make it about England, we wanted to make it about Europe and set out to find some really obscure and challenging facts about European football. The result is that we seem to have created the toughest football quiz to date.

“A real difference is we’ll be setting questions about the tournament as it unfolds, on top of creating over 1,000 questions about European football. We’ve worked to create a seamless user experience and give football fans of all stripes a chance to compete against each other.

“Just keep an eye out for the Jamie Vardy and Drinkwater questions – we simply won’t be able to resist!”

The app is free to download on both iOS and Android.
