Lifestream Release Date Set for April 25, 2016 (Video)

The release date for Lifestream, a brand new text adventure by independent game developer Unimatrix Productions that aims to revolutionize interactive fiction, has been scheduled for April 25, 2016. It will be released on the PC, iOS®, and Android™.

In Lifestream, players take on the roles of Catholic priest Randolph Holton and his son, John, in their search for an enigmatic realm known only as “the Lifestream.” The game combines classic room-based explorative text game mechanics with a stylish graphical interface and plenty of modern bells and whistles like pictures and sound. The result is an engine that looks and feels contemporary while remaining true to the essence of interactive fiction.

Lifestream plays like an interactive novel. You make a series of choices that determine what happens next in the story. However, unlike traditional choose your own adventure games, gamebooks, and visual novels, Lifestream includes advanced adventure-based mechanics, such as a compass for navigation, a full-fledged inventory system, character interaction with branching dialog, and a variety of complex puzzles to solve. It features 8+ hours of gameplay and over 65,000 words (the length of an entire novel), 150 pieces of artwork, 30 unlockable achievements, and an hour-long soundtrack.

Lifestream on STEAM™

Lifestream was created and produced using the Storycentric Worlds game engine, which allows developers with no prior programming experience to quickly and easily create and produce their own games. The Storycentric Worlds engine will be free to use for interested developers and features a custom scripting language, along with a host of cool features.

Story
John Holton’s father, a Catholic priest named Randolph, has been missing for two weeks. Unable to go to the police for help, since doing so would tarnish his father’s reputation as a celibate priest, John takes it upon himself to search for his father.

Over the course of Lifestream, players take on the roles of both John in the present and his father, Randolph, in the past. While John searches for answers, players see the troubling events that led to Randolph’s disappearance firsthand.
