Build a ship, complete a mission and wave it goodbye when your crew defect to the other side.
Three Phase Interactive, an indie studio based in Melbourne Australia, has announced that their 2D spaceship builder/fighter, Defect: Spaceship Destruction Kit, will be released on Steam Early Access on December 1, 2pm PST, for PC and Mac. The game currently includes 27 playable missions and over 100 fighter sized ship pieces to construct ships with.
Defect allows the player to build the ultimate ship piece by piece, from the size of a single-pilot fighter to a space station the size of a small moon. Players create devastating spacecraft capable of obliterating their foes, but have to keep in mind that their crew will defect, forcing them to face their own creations in battle
“We’re big fans of sci-fi and construction games and we want to offer unprecedented freedom of creation”, said Drew Morrow, lead designer/artist at Three Phase Interactive. “Players can build the most powerful ships in the galaxy using our 2D ship building system, which we think is pretty easy to use.”
The game will feature hundreds of parts across three stylistic themes referencing sci-fi movies and shows from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. How do you build the perfect ship to complete your objective, but also build in flaws that can be exploited later when your crew inevitably defects?
Drew Morrow continued, “We’re really excited to be working on our dream project and can’t wait to see what ship designs and ideas players come up with.”
“Knowing that you’ll lose a ship and have to take it down allows for all kinds of tactical trickery, and suddenly the Death Star’s Thermal Exhaust Port makes perfect sense.” Rock, Paper, Shotgun

About Defect: Spaceship Destruction Kit
Build a ship, complete a mission and wave it goodbye when your crew defect to the other side. Then design a new ship to hunt down those mutinous traitors in an endless cycle of punishment and revenge. Don’t make that new design too good though, because odds are you’ll be fighting it pretty soon.
