SFB Games Limited today announced that their recently Greenlit game Detective Grimoire is being released on the Steam store on August 18th, 2014. First launched for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac OS and Linux on January 2nd 2014 following a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the second half of development, the game was submitted to Steam’s Greenlight system at the same time as SFB Games’ other game, Haunt the House: Terrortown. Both games made it through Greenlight in just 18 days, and Haunt the House: Terrortown was released on Steam on July 6th.
Detective Grimoire throws the player into the heart of Boggy’s Bog, where the owner of the tourist attraction found there has been murdered, seemingly by the very mythical creature his attraction is based around. Guide the eponymous Detective Grimoire around the swamp, interviewing the cast of strange suspects, solving perplexing puzzles and searching for critical clues, all while helping Grimoire gather his thoughts to think in the right direction. Beautifully painted scenery, fully voiced characters and an award-nominated soundtrack round out this project three years in the making.
Since the initial release of Detective Grimoire, the game has received an honorable mention at the 2014 IGF for Excellence in Narrative, has won Best Game Story at the 2014 Casual Connect Indie Prize and has been nominated for both Excellence in Storytelling and Excellence in Sound Design at the 2014 IMGA.
The updated Steam edition includes Steam achievements, Steam trading cards, upgraded ‘retina’ quality graphics and a new case file short-cut feature. It’ll be available for $4.89 from Monday August 18th until the following Monday as a launch week discount, then $6.99 after that.
