To coincide with today’s release of the consumer version of Samsung’s Gear VR CCP Games announce the launch of Gunjack™, a visually stunning virtual reality (VR) arcade shooter for the Samsung Gear VR platform that is set in the sprawling EVE science fiction universe. Built from the ground up for VR using the next-generation Unreal Engine 4 graphics engine, Gunjack delivers fast-paced and fully immersive action in a gorgeous panoramic sci-fi setting.
Gunjack can be purchased directly via the Oculus store on the Samsung Gear VR platform for £6.99.
In Gunjack, players take on the role of a gun turret operator on a mining vessel in the Outer Ring region of known space. As part of the ship’s defense team, it is up to the player to protect the rig from pirates, opportunists and anyone else looking to take what rightfully belongs to the company.
“Our goal from the beginning was to create a showcase title for Gear VR” said Jean-Charles Gaudechon, executive producer of Gunjack. “We pushed as far we could to reach a level of immersion that would transport players to a different world when they put the Gear VR headset on, and we hope they will have as much fun playing Gunjack as we had building it.”
Gunjack, developed by CCP’s Shanghai studio, is the first VR game released by the company, which is also developing space combat game EVE: Valkyrie for release in 2016, as well as unannounced titles.

Gunjack is set in CCP’s sprawling EVE Universe, which also includes EVE Online on PC, DUST 514 on PlayStation®3, and the upcoming VR game for the Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR, EVE: Valkyrie.
