The new game is described as an immersive car racing action game specifically designed for VR racing in mind. The game action, which can now be seen on the Oculus Share Motorsport Revolution page is reminiscent of popular arcade racers.
The Oculus inclusion of Motorsport Revolution adds to Oculus’ growing VR catalogue, which already offers popular virtual reality enabled demos for the Oculus Rift and Gear VR mobile display. The full game is available on Ghost Machines website and on Steam using VR mode with the newly released DK2 Oculus Rift Development headset, which can be obtained through the Oculus VR website . The game can also be played in a standard view version of the game for players without the virtual reality headset.
When asked CEO of Ghost Machine, Neal Nellans, was enthusiastic about the Oculus share release. “Oculus share has always been a hub for the newest and most interesting VR demos, we’re very happy to have our latest demo exhibited on on the Oculus platform for more gamers to experience.”, stated Nellans.
On March 25, 2014, Facebook announced that it had agreed to buy Oculus VR for $400 million in cash, $1.6 billion in Facebook stock, and an additional $300 million subject to Oculus VR meeting certain financial targets in a transaction expected to close in the second quarter of 2014.
Located in the backlot of the Austin Studios production facility, Ghost Machine VR currently has eight virtual-reality games in production, including Final Burn, which challenges players to pilot a F-16 in a dogfight against an alien invasion reminiscent of Hollywood blockbusters.
