Netker Inc., a South Korean indie game dev company, is happy to announce that their first game Versus: Battle of the Gladiator is coming to Steam Greenlight. Versus is currently at the polishing stage, and will be launched as Steam Early Access for PC Windows on Summer 2016 once it’s Greenlit.
Versus started with a simple question: “If gladiators with different combat styles from all around the world fight against each other, who will win?” You are a slave gladiator captured by Claderan Empire, the conqueror of the world. You must fight – with or against up to 15 others – in bloody gladiatorial battle to prove your strength.
There are 7 unique combat styles: Onehanded, Shielded, Dual-wield (by actually wielding 2 onehanded weapon), Hwando, Battleaxe, Greatsword and Warhammer. Each combat style consist of several attack skills and evasive actions, which are in strength-weakness relationship with each other. This relationship weaves the combat into a complex mind game. Furthermore, players can customize the combat style by themselves, making the combat an unpredictable, ever-changing experience.
Versus is utilizing complete non-targeting combat system aided with Netker’s advanced server system, which makes player’s creative use of skills possible and rewarding. Also, Netker’s physics simulation traces the endurance of each armor parts individually, and destroys each parts accordingly. Whenever an armor part is destroyed, players become more vulnerable but also more agile, which immediately affects gameplay. Every choice players make will directly affect the next moment of combat, creating a potential for unexpected gameplay to emerge.
Players can participate in several game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Tournaments and Team Tagmatch. There are also PvE game modes, such as Raid where you must defeat strong bosses, or Horde where you must fight off waves of enemies. Players can obtain, craft and modify hundreds of weapons and armors inspired by actual war equipment around the world.
