Carmachia: High-Octane Gladiators of 2075, by indie studio Luderia, is out on the App Store. Carmachia is a modern, mobile take on the formula of competitive car-battle games such as Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8. It’s a shared-device multiplayer game, where each player grabs a steering wheel on his side of the iPad and battle face to face in a top-down 2D arena.
About Carmachia
With a top-down perspective, the game is set in car battle arenas of the post-apocalyptic future of 2075. In the arena, each player must collect weapons and powerups and use them in the best way possible to defeat the opponent. The fights take place in a small playing field, so the action never stops and the combatants are constantly engaging each other.
Carmachia’s name stems from classic skirmishes such as the tauromachia (bullfighting) and the naumachia (staged naval battle). It’s a fierce dogfight between two cars in a tight space, and it plays more like a fighting game instead of a Carmageddon or Destruction Derby of sorts. Players must attack, retreat, control space, flank and outsmart their opponent, using a variety of weapons and powerups to get out alive.
But Carmachia isn’t an easy mobile game. It’s meant for those avid for great competition and constant improvement. Conflicts are less about level exploration and more about learning to position yourself, making quick choices and readapting when things don’t go as planned. It’s a fast-paced game for two people, and it’s guaranteed to offer a great time for those willing to learn it!
