Industrial Toys releases Midnight Star, the first adventure in their ambitious Midnight Star universe, today on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The game joins Midnight Rises, an interactive graphic novel released on the App Store last week, to form an epic science fiction experience across two apps.
The game is a re-imagining of the science fiction shooter for touch, combining deep immersion and intense action with controls, community and competitive multiplayer designed specifically for mobile platforms.
Set 120 years into our future, Midnight Star takes players aboard the MSRV-Joplin, a research vessel newly outfitted with military weaponry to explore a mysterious signal coming from within our Solar System. When inevitable disaster strikes, they’re transported across the cosmos to take part in a war that is not their own in order to undo the disaster that befalls their crew, their ship, and the entire human race.
“With Midnight Star, we’re looking to change expectations for what kind of experience core gamers get from their mobile devices,” said Industrial Toys CEO Alex Seropian. “We’re breaking new ground on everything from the visuals to the story to the ongoing support we’ll provide in the way of content, events and player involvement.”
The game has a veteran development team including Bungie Founder Seropian, Halo Design Lead Paul Bertone, Hugo-award winning author John Scalzi and rockstar composer Serj Tankian.
Midnight Star is available for free on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
