Only months after a successful launch on Steam, Schell Games brings Orion Trial to the newest virtual reality (VR) platform Samsung Gear VR. Players will experience the same core gameplay, but the game’s interface and characters have been adapted for a VR environment. Orion Trail VR will be available, beginning December 24, on the Oculus Store.
Paying tribute to Oregon Trail and Star Trek alike, Orion Trail is a science fiction space adventure game where the player must rely on their wit, officers and ship to survive. In this single player game, players act as the captain of their own ship and must make tough decisions that risk the safety and lives of their crew. With over 50 unique encounters, 30 mini-encounters, 70 events, and 6 away missions, players embark on journeys that test their wisdom, luck and courage as they manage their resources and crew on an intergalactic space voyage. The game features fun pixel art, witty puns and an awesome soundtrack.
After mounting a triumphant Kickstarter campaign and Steam launch, the company was ready to move the game in a new direction. It decided to flex its 20+ years of virtual reality experience and develop Orion Trail on this burgeoning platform. Currently the company has no less than three VR experiences in development, including the award-winning super spy puzzle game I Expect You To Die made for the Oculus Rift.
Orion Trail VR will retail for $4.99 on the Oculus Store.
