It’s pretty easy to see why The Journey Down: Chapter Two topped the Qi iPad games chart for September. It’s another slice of funny, clever, and thoroughly engrossing point and click adventuring that somehow maintains the high standard of the first chapter. Talking of continuing the good work, at number two we have Mikey Boots. BeaverTap’s third Mikey game scraps the platforming element of Mikey Pants and Mikey Hooks in favour of a rocket-propelled arcade time trial extravaganza. Returning to the point and click adventure theme, at number four we have Valiant Hearts: The Great War. The key to Ubisoft’s effort is it’s moving, stylised take on World War I. You won’t have played anything quite like it. Finishing off a very classy September is CounterSpy, down at number five. This is Sony’s impossibly slick and cool stealth-’em-up, which is equal parts The Incredibles, James Bond, and Metal Gear Solid. Calculator # tops the Qi iPad apps chart for September, providing a free calculator app with an advanced algebra engine and mathematical display support. Perfect for those advanced mathematical tasks. Twelve a Dozen takes the number two spot, and to be honest we’re not sure whether it belongs here or in the games section. That’s because it’s an excellent mathematical educational app masquerading as polished platform-puzzler. Sneaky! Pro.Calendar has no such dual-purpose. It’s a dedicated, powerful calendar app with multiple views, reminders, a todo list function, and support for a wide range of desktop calendars and cloud storage services. Bringing up the rear at number ten we have Livescribe+, which ties in with Livescribe 3 pens to enable direct note taking on your iPad. This app lets you tag, organise, and search through your scrawlings, making it great for productivity.
