A remarkable recent discovery in the jungles of Central America has inspired a short documentary film about the Mayan Death Robots phenomenon, which explains the chaos these mechanical aliens unleashed when they invaded our majestic planet.
Take a look at the micro-documentary (new trailer) right here.
Yes, the Mayan Death Robots are here, using heavy arms to shake the gods from their eternal sleep, irritating the hell out of Spanish conquistadors, and generally smashing everything to hell, including each other. Choose your robot and launch into explosive one-on-one versus battles against friends in local multiplayer, or go head to head with the alien robot AI. It’s PvP, but not as we know it. The chaos keeps coming with both opponents taking their turns simultaneously for a maximum of Maya madness every time.
“We designed this game to be most fun played with a friend in local multiplayer, so I really recommend you do that if you can,” said Karel Crombecq, solo code wonk at Sileni Studios. “You can play against the AI and have a great time, but you’ll get the experience we wanted to give if you concentrate on knocking the crap out of a friend within close cursing distance. Enjoy!”
Published by Soedesco, Mayan Death Robots is out today for PC via Steam and will be coming to consoles at a later date.
About Mayan Death Robots
Mayan Death Robots reinvents the artillery genre in a Mayan setting that’s been invaded by alien killing machines. Pick a robot from the roster and enter the arena to destroy your opponent’s power core. Aim your weapon before the timer runs out, but don’t be distracted by the pretty scenery: when the rockets start flying, you already need to plan your next move! Will you choose to move your robot to a better vantage point, or will you build defenses to keep your opponent from landing a killing blow?
Mayan Death Robots won the “Best Game in Show – Audience Choice Award” at Casual Connect Eastern Europe 2014 in Belgrade.

“Build letting bots reshape the landscape by dropping tetrominoes, which puts a nuanced and entertaining twist on the basic artillery formula, particularly as battles run longer.”
RockPaperShotgun
“Mayan Death Robots is easily one of the best games we have played all year. Not only does it improve and sometimes re-imagine the formula for this type of game but the sheer amount of content is amazing.”

“While Mayan Death Robots shares a lot in common with Worms, it also innovates enough that it is an entertaining experience for anyone who enjoyed the Worms franchise.”
