Marvelous Games, the European division of Japanese publisher MarvelousAQL, best known for the highly-acclaimed titles Harvest Moon, No More Heroes and RunBot, has today released Bubo Drop; a highly entertaining and dangerously addictive match-3 game for iOS.
Bubo Drop requires three key things; skill, speed and a touch of luck. Players have 60 seconds to score as many points as possible by matching colored blocks together. Blocks are dropped from above and fall onto an ever rising grid below. Matching 3 or more blocks of the same colour causes them to vanish with a burst of stars and a flurry of points, and after 60 seconds the points are tallied together and posted on the weekly leaderboard.
Tactical play is rewarded with chain reactions and cascading combos, which help to rack up points quickly. The skill is to balance the amount of blocks dropped so there are enough for epic combo opportunities, but not so many that they rise above the dreaded line – causing a premature game over.
In addition to this, a variety of game-changing powerups can be activated to give the player an upper hand. From Freeze Time to Colour Bombs, all eight can be used together in different ways to help score big and top the leaderboard.
