Developer Team Chesster and indie label Surprise Attack Games today revealed Chesster, a game that achieves the impossible – a genuinely new twist on match three gameplay. Coming to iPhone, iPad and Steam on March 17, 2016, Chesster blends the movement rules of chess with match three’s rules of combining blocks of the same object.
Faced with a board full of chess pieces, the player can move three pieces per turn. Each piece moves just as it would in chess, and instead of swapping with the piece at its target destination, it will take that piece and clear it from the board. At the end of a turn, any row or column of three or more of the same piece will score.
Just like chess, the key to Chesster is thinking several steps ahead and deep analysis of the board to find the best moves. High scores are only possible by creating cascades, with new combos formed by blocks falling into the space left behind.
Highlights:
•Chesster launches for iPhone, iPad, PC, Mac & Linux on March 17, 2016
•Achieves the impossible – a new twist on match three
•Create rows or columns of three or more of the same chess pieces
•Pieces move just as they do in chess
•Rich environmental music with live recordings
•Think ahead to create cascading combos
About This Game
Chess meets match-three to create a deep and strategic new experience. Faced with a board full of chess pieces, you must create rows or columns of matching pieces to score points.
Pieces move the same way as in chess and “take” the piece in their target destination, clearing it from the board. Players can move three pieces each turn with scoring and cascades occurring at the end of the turn.
Just like chess, the key is thinking several steps ahead and high scores are only possible by lining up combos as pieces fall into the empty spaces you’ve created. Progress through the medieval estate to complete the game, mastering three types of level – game, puzzle and challenge.
