Ironcast developer Dreadbit Games today revealed more details about two Ironcast Commanders, and delved further into Global Unlocks and what they mean for the player.
William Beechwood
William is one of the First Commanders to be announced during the Kickstarter. He’s an arrogant man, who seeks glory on the battlefield above anything else. He is the owner of Beechwood Munitions Group (formerly Beechwood Metals Group… bullets seem to be more profitable!) and as such he heads into battle armed with the very finest quality ammunition.
His Signature Augmentation boosts your chances of an automatic Overdrive (critical strike) with weapons when he completes longer matches of purple nodes, and all projectile weapons have their damage boosted! So be sure to pick Missile Launchers, Light Cannons and Shotcannons when taking Beechwood.
Master of Munitions: Matching 6 or more ammo nodes increases the chance of Overdrive of the next weapon system to be fired by 5%. In addition, the damage of all projectile based weapons is boosted by 10%.
Adhira Dhankhar (Kickstarter Exclusive Commander)
Adhira’s family originally worked in food produce distribution, but it was her pioneering research into cooling techniques that brought her to the attention of the Consortium of Merit. Whilst her freezing technology was primarily designed to keep perishables from spoiling when transported, she adapted the devices to provide suitable cooling for the Ironcast’s Voltite generators.
Maharani Cryomechanic: Matching 6 or more coolant nodes ensures that the next system to be activated consumes no coolant. In addition, the damage of all weapons is boosted by 10% if fired with a full coolant tank.

Global Unlocks
Ironcast is designed to be hard. You will not complete the campaign on your first attempt! It might be possible, but it’s also highly improbable. However, each time your Ironcast is destroyed, you’ll make progress towards unlocking the next Global Unlock. These upgrades are added to your campaign, each making progress slightly more manageable! What’s more, each upgrade can be unlocked several times, stacking up to be quite a boost for any struggling Commander.
•More starting HP:
Your Ironcast enjoys 15 more Health Points (HP) at the start of a campaign.
•More HP on level up:
Levelling up during a campaign awards your Ironcast Commander with a new ability but also boosts your Ironcast’s HP by a small amount. This Global Unlock boosts that health increase by 5 each time. This will certainly add up as you head towards the end of the campaign!
•Scrap bonus:
The Scrap you earn from missions, matching nodes and destroying enemies is boosted by 5%, making those higher grade weapons and systems slightly more obtainable.
•Experience points bonus:
Finally, this Global Unlock provides you with a 5% XP boost, meaning faster levelling throughout the campaign. More levels mean more HP boosts, more abilities and more augmentations for your Ironcast. Useful!
About Ironcast
Inspired by Victorian era science fiction writers such as H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, Ironcast is set in an exciting alternative history; a time when refined men and women in top hats and bonnets commanded gigantic walking war machines, laying waste to the enemies of the British Empire! Players take control of a 7 meter tall walking vehicle called an Ironcast. They must face off against an invading force of enemy Ironcast in order to defend 1880’s Victorian England.
Battles are fought by generating resource nodes which in turn drive the Ironcast’s various weapons and systems. Players must choose how to spend these nodes wisely, either offensively in order to cripple and destroy their opponents, or defensively, if they suspect a barrage of incoming weapons fire is due.
The game is expected to launch in early 2015.
