New Strategy and Base Defense Game To Launch on Xbox One and PC
We interrupt your day with a terrifying news alert. A large armada of robotic space invaders will attack Earth February 3 with the release of upcoming strategy and base defense, third-person shooter Fortified from independent video game developer Clapfoot. Launching on Xbox One via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program and on PC, Fortified will be available for $14.99 and Xbox One gamers can pre-order Fortified starting today.
Inspired by 1950s sci-fi films, Fortified is an action-packed base defense game that expands upon the genre by adding third-person shooter mechanics and real-time strategy elements that are used in tandem to save Earth from robotic invaders. Players take control of one-of-four character classes as they fight swarms of enemies with an arsenal of Cold War era weapons and experimental alien technology. In Fortified players protect the city by building a network of defensive structures, commanding army units and pulling the trigger on dangerous skyscraping attackers. Gamers can battle the invaders alone or team up with other players in four-player co-op mode.
“We’ve always been interested in the strategy elements of tower defense games, but we felt the genre had become repetitive and it seemed gamers did too,” said Mark Ng, co-founder of Clapfoot. “By adding co-op and third-person shooter mechanics into Fortified, we are making a fresh approach to the genre and giving players a more robust playing experience that will change what they think about tower defense games.”
