Blue Label Studio announces it’s first game, I Will Escape, from the “I will” the game trilogy. The game will be available for Windows, Mac and Linux. With an expected release in Q4 2014.
You are Brian Lowfield you awaken on the cold floor of a prison cell with no recollection of what happened in the past 24 hours. You’ve lost your memory and you’re completely stripped from your gear. On the floor, you find a picture of a young girl. You don’t know who she is, yet she looks familiar to you. You have no idea what’s going on, but you are sure about one thing: I Will Escape! While you’re trying to escape you will encounter different challenges while finding your way out such as: solving puzzles, finding items and getting past your enemies unseen. You have no weapons so you will have to sneak or distract your enemies. Whatever happens, do not get caught!
The abandoned old prison you are locked in, consists of several buildings , yards and a wide range of sewers. Quickly, after the first escape from your cell, you find out you’re not alone. Guards are patrolling the sights. Soon you find out the army is using this prison as a base to lock up people and do experiments with them.
The game is mainly about leaving the prison unseen, the player will face different types of danger such as soldiers patrolling, guard dogs, security camera’s and patrolling helicopters. Brian has to jump, hang, crawl, kick and climb his way out or hide. He will have to use the environment and it’s objects to distract his enemies and set them on the wrong track.
To get a sense of the world around you, you can collect notes containing information of the world you are in. Step by step you will find out more about what happened to you and the conflict the world is facing. You can read the collected information in your portable Nano-Reader, which is a watch you can take off and unfold into a futuristic tablet.
I Will Escape is being developed with the Blender Game Engine. Blender is a free and open source program used for various purposes such as modeling, animation and gaming. Because the game is developed by this tool the game’s file are completely accessible to anyone owning a copy of the game because of it’s open source license. Meaning the player is able to see how the game is made. You can see the models, textures and the scripts written to get this game up and running. If you are a really big enthusiast you can even modify the game and create your very own levels. Of course this requires some knowledge of the software. The game will include several documents on this topic on how to get started.
The game I Will Escape is the very first game developed on this scale with Blender. With this, the developers want to show the possibilities with open source softwar The third person action/adventure game is set for release in the fourth quarter of this year and will be available for Windows, Mac and Linux. The game will be distributed through Desura and Steam. The game has been Greenlit by Valve as of August 1st. The game can be played with either a game controller or a keyboard and mouse. The game has a play length of approximately three hours or longer and will be available in multiple languages.
Blue Label Studio was established in 2012 by Wesley Blijlevens, who started having an interest in games development from a young age. Now, he is responsible for the development team existing of about ten people from various disciplines. The company is located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Their goal is to create adventure games that are story driven and with a mature character and therefore they are targeting an older audience.
