Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty lands on Vita!

Following on from the critically acclaimed and much loved PlayStation, Steam and Xbox One releases of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty – Oddworld Inhabitants Inc are excited to finally announce that the game has officially landed for PlayStation Vita and is out today!

The PS Vita’s an impressive machine, and for Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty it grants you – for the first time with this particular title – the ability to build an experience designed to be enjoyed on the bus, laid back on the sofa, or during your lunch break.

In essence, this is very much Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty – the same 84% Metacritic hit that launched on PlayStation – but it’s a refined, specially adapted version of the game that plays to the strengths of the mobile format, while still delivering that “AAA indie” level of polish Oddworld fans have come to expect.

Oddworld have reworked the controls considerably. A lot of attention has been lavished on the individual buttons and sticks – tweaking the analog dead zones, doubling up the shoulder buttons and making sure that Abe always goes exactly where you want him to no matter what. Of extreme importance, however, is the instant QuikSave and QuickLoad from the PlayStation 4 version: tap SELECT to QuikSave wherever you are in the game, and hold the same button to reload.

Oddworld have also worked tirelessly on the visual experience on the PS Vita. The game looks grittier – gone is the bloom and glow leaving an aesthetic that closer resembles the 1997 classic.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty for Vita is Cross-buy, so if you’ve already bought the PS4 or PS3 version of the game (or got it during last year’s PlayStation Plus offering) then the Vita version is free to download.
