The wait is almost over, with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS arriving this week, on 3rd October, to take on Europe. Fans can get their hands on the first portable outing for the Smash Bros. series and experience a huge wealth of content, including a roster of over 40 playable characters made up of new challengers and favourite veterans, the Nintendo 3DS-exclusive Smash Run mode, and online For Glory and For Fun modes that allow players to challenge the world.
Critics throughout Europe have praised the series’ jump to portable play across the board:
CVG, 9 out of 10 – “Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is extraordinarily slick”, “Whether you enjoy it as a technical fighting game or an insane Nintendo block party, Smash Bros’ handheld debut delivers big on all fronts.”
Nintendo Life, 9 out of 10 – “Remarkable production values combined with a staggering amount of content and fan service make Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS an entertaining, rewarding and downright addictive title that’s immensely hard to put down.”
Pocket Gamer, 9 out of 10 – “Super Smash Bros. is as fast, frenetic, and wonderfully satisfying on handheld. And this pint size version has more of everything – including fighters, trophies, and modes”
Videogamer.com, 9 out of 10 – “Packing a substantial amount of content and the same fantastic gameplay as its home console siblings, it gives the forthcoming Wii U version an awful lot to live up to.”
Huffington Post, 9 out of 10 – “It combines everything that is great about Nintendo – deceptively simple gaming mechanics, bright and colourful graphics, fantastic design and a subtle sense of irony and humour – and produces something with the depth of the best hardcore fighters on the market, and the variety of the entire Nintendo eShop. … it will establish itself as a total classic in the system’s line-up for years to come. Roll on the Wii U version later this year.”
Anyone eager to get a taste of how Smash Bros. feels after its transition to portable format can try the free demo now available on Nintendo eShop. This demo features the Smash mode with five playable characters (Mario, Villager, Link, Pikachu and Mega Man), one stage (Battlefield) and the ability to compete in local multiplayer matches with fellow Nintendo 3DS and 2DS owners who have downloaded the demo to their systems, which can be played up to 30 times.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS launches exclusively on Nintendo 3DS and 2DS on 3rd October at retail or digitally from Nintendo eShop. At launch, smash fans also have the choice to own the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Limited Edition Pack which is a red Nintendo 3DS XL system with a Super Smash Bros. motif on the front and the game pre-installed while stocks last.
Please note the creation of a Nintendo Network ID is required in order to download demos from Nintendo eShop.
