Castle sim sequel discounted by 33% on Steam to celebrate classic map pack, Steam Workshop support and new multiplayer features
Firefly Studios has released its first expansion for Stronghold Crusader 2 in the form of a Steam-focussed Winter Update:
Now live on Steam, this new content allows players to share maps containing recreations of recognisable high fantasy castles, replicas of historical castles or completely original designs. Having already witnessed incredible castle designs floating around on Stronghold fan sites and YouTube the Crusader team is encouraging all players to upload their works of art to the new Workshop page, where the Classic Map Pack can also be found:

Voted for by players over the course of development and now available for download via the Crusader 2 Steam Workshop page, the Classic Map Pack recreates six fan-favourite maps from the original Stronghold Crusader. Playable for the first time in 3D, these new maps are completely free for existing players as part of the Winter Update. The pack includes the following classic Crusader 1 maps: North Vs South, The Great Euphrates, A Friend Indeed, The River, The Ford Across The River and Green Belt. Firefly are hugely thankful to the community for helping them decide which maps to include in their first expansion update for the game. The team cannot wait to see what other classic and all-new maps the community upload to the Workshop in the coming weeks and months.
Also added in the new update is a host of advanced multiplayer options requested by players since launch. The Crusader team has spent the past few weeks coding, testing and balancing these features in preparation for the new update. After downloading the new content players will be able to tailor their Crusader experience, tweaking settings to feel more like the original game or changing things up with newer options at their disposal. Popular additions for those who like their castle to feel impenetrable include Strong Walls and Double Health Walls, as well as a special ‘No Fire’ mode to limit the risk of unprotected farmlands being decimated by torch-wielding Slaves.
