Meridian4 and Bad Games today announced the Steam release of Selknam Defense, the award-winning, tower-defense/RTS game inspired by true events.
In Selknam Defense, players travel back almost 200 years to defend the Selknam people of South America against European colonization. Leading archers, mages and other warriors, players fight off waves of attack in the dense forests, freezing tundra and lands the Selknam call home. As players battle soldiers, pirates and other new-world foes, they unlock powerful upgrades to customize their defense strategy.
With over 500,000 downloads and winner of LG Electronics Smart TV competition, Selknam Defense is more than an exceptional strategy game. It’s a gateway to the past that puts a nation’s destiny into players’ control.
“Selknam Defense is the ultimate tower-defense/RTS challenge,” said Andy Sher, CEO of Meridian4. “It challenges players to put their strategic defense skills toward altering the fate of a real people. We love this concept and know players will too.”
“Being Chilean myself, I wanted to showcase the country’s culture,” said Sebastián Gana, Bad Games. “While tragic, the story of the Selknam people has always been of interest to me. The team and I wanted to share this story, but give players a chance to change the outcome.”
