Folds is a puzzle game unlike any other. A totally new game principle makes Folds so unique. Try to fold all colored triangles. On the playing field you must skillful place the triangles in a way that a couple of the same color is opposite from each other. These pairs can get folded together. But be aware in which direction you fold them together.
You always need two triangles opposite from each other. If you lose your concentration and you fold incorrectly then all your successful dissolved levels are lost.
If you believe that you have mastered Folds this game will surprise you again. With a more complex folding you need your full concentration so you don’t loose.
The complex level design will always create new levels with new challenges for you. The app is suitable for families so that up to six players can save and manage their scores. To do this each player chooses it’s own figure at the beginning of the game so they can manage the levels, score and high score. An animated game manual completes the puzzle game.
Folds is the first app game by Roman Jahn and Michaela Janz.
The idea of Folds was simple, yet ingenious; something to fold.
The idea was born on a sheet of paper with different colored triangles of cardboard.
Before programming, nearly 3,000 individual images were created. The crochet characters and hand drawn templates by Michaela Janz contribute to the uniqueness of Folds. But the rule “fold all colors to the end” seemed too easy for the higher levels.
The creation with the double-folding was even more complex. The color pairs are first folded across. Two triangles will form another color pair that is now transverse in the field. These can be folded back again. With the double-folding principle the right balance between color and triangles had to be determinded first to ensure a solveable pair formation.
The first playable version with the double-folding (level 26 and up) has even surprised us as the developer team. After only 3 levels – Game over!
Now we knew that Folds is not a boring or casual game. Joy, concentration, frustration and addiction – that is Folds.
Folds Free is available in the app store for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad since September 13, 2014. The full version of Folds is already available for 1.99 USD (1,79 EUR) since August 5, 2014.
