The eighth fantasy Gamebook Adventures title, Curse of the Assassin, arrives on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Appstore for Android today, just in time to help Tin Man Games celebrate its 5th anniversary!
Neil Rennison, creative director said: “What an incredible journey it’s been for us over the last five years and it’s almost fateful that we should complete development on the sequel to the very book that started this adventure for us.”
Curse of the Assassin is the follow-up to the highly regarded An Assassin in Orlandes, Tin Man Games’ first digital gamebook release back in 2010, bringing back together author S.P. Osborne and illustrator Pirkka Harvala, whose artwork is in full colour for the first time. The interactive story takes you back to the familiar surrounds of Orlandes City where you pick up your life some time after the events of the first book. You’ve risen through society, capturing the affections of the Duke’s daughter along the way. The mysterious death of a friend arouses your suspicions and once again you find yourself at the heart of a conspiracy that takes you on a rollercoaster adventure careering through the grimier parts of Orlandes City and beyond to your old stomping grounds where you need to recruit old friends and battle adversaries from your youth.
“This is an epic story and one of our biggest yet. You can expect a few twists and turns, and fans of our series can look forward to a few cameos and continuity from our previous titles,” continued Neil.
Tin Man Games yet again use their critically acclaimed gamebook engine, which transforms your smartphone or tablet into an interactive gamebook. With animated page-turning, dynamic links, achievements, side quests, an automated inventory for player stats and objects, the reader may also roll physics-based 3D dice to fight their way through the myriad of weird and wonderful creatures that appear. The app makes good use of the latest smart phone and tablet hardware, using the increased screen space of tablets to read horizontally or vertically, and allows readers to save their progress with bookmarks. Casual readers can also now cheat and access the whole book.
Tin Man Games has reduced the price of Curse of the Assassin for the opening week. Neil said, “We felt we wanted to thank our loyal fans who have helped us grow Tin Man Games and Gamebook Adventures over the last few years, so this felt like a good way of doing it! We’ve also reduced the price of An Assassin in Orlandes in case anyone new to our titles fancies giving digital gamebooks a go.”
