Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent’s Curse: Episode One Launches Today on PlayStation Vita in the US

PlayStation Vita owners looking for a cerebral yet action-packed adventure to enjoy can today begin rejoicing as award-winning Revolution Software have released in the US the first episode of their most ambitious Broken Sword title to date.

Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent’s Curse: Episode One is now available from the PlayStation store, priced at $16.99.

When a mysterious painting is stolen during an armed raid on a Paris gallery, George Stobbart and Nico Collard are thrown, seemingly by chance, into the investigation together. From Paris to London, from Spain to the Holy Lands, the trail becomes a race against time as dark forces from Europe’s turbulent past are woken from their slumber. Broken Sword characters old and new are encountered – but who can George and Nico trust? Their investigation reveals a conspiracy as old as the written word, whose ancient heresies will cause innocent blood to spill once more…

Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent’s Curse sees the series’ return to point and click for the first time since Broken Sword 2 – to the genre in which Revolution has truly excelled. Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent’s Curse has re-united key members from the original Broken Sword team, with layout artists from studios such as Disney, Aardman, and Universal who have created sumptuous, classically drawn backgrounds. The rich, lavish HD art evolves the art-style so loved in the previous Broken Sword games.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be returning to PlayStation with a classic-style Broken Sword adventure for the first time since Broken Sword 2,” says Charles Cecil, founder, Revolution Software. “Our PlayStation community has always been incredibly passionate and we are very proud to be able to bring the game to Vita in the US. The game really does show off the features of the handheld: the touch interface works really well, and the visuals sparkle on that screen – and the opportunity to carry the adventure wherever you are is a first for us on a Sony format.

“But this is only the beginning – we’ve a concluding episode due later this year on Vita that will complete the story of what I hope will be seen as our most ambitious Broken Sword game ever. We’re really excited to finally unveil the start of George and Nico’s greatest adventure.”

Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent’s Curse: Episode One is rated T for Teen and is available now for Vita. PC, Linux and Mac versions are also available from Steam, GOG and GetGames and the game is available on iOS and Android.
