CCP Games today announced that EVE: Valkyrie™, the highly anticipated virtual reality (VR) multiplayer dogfighting shooter that Wired.com celebrated as “a soaring example of VR as the future of gaming,” and Gunjack™, the visually stunning VR arcade shooter, have launched on the Oculus Rift platform on PC. Both games were created specifically for VR and build upon CCP’s leadership position in the coming VR revolution, as well as demonstrate the company’s commitment to creating immersive virtual worlds for players around the globe.
“This is just the beginning of our plans for virtual reality,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “Our goal has always been to create the most immersive virtual worlds, and VR now gives us a powerful new tool to achieve that.”
Launching EVE: Valkyrie and Gunjack on Oculus Rift is just the latest of CCP’s efforts in VR. Gunjack launched on the Gear VR platform in November 2015, and both games will find their way to additional VR platforms in the future. The company has several other VR projects in development, recently receiving $30 million in investments to support its ambitions.

ABOUT EVE: VALKYRIE
Called “Oculus Rift’s flagship VR game” by Bloomberg, EVE: Valkyrie is an award-winning, highly anticipated multiplayer dogfighting shooter that has been built from the ground up to harness the very latest advances in virtual reality technology. It is an accessible and immersive experience that fulfills the fantasy and thrill of being a real spaceship pilot in the midst of combat. USA Today noted that EVE: Valkyrie is “perhaps the greatest showcase of virtual reality’s potential.”
Set deep in the lawless regions of the EVE Universe, the Valkyrie are a breakaway mercenary faction. Led by the enigmatic Rán, they are guns for hire, seeking profit or vengeance and preying on other pirate factions who get in their way.
Developed by CCP Games’ Newcastle studio, EVE: Valkyrie is the boldest realization of virtual reality space combat, combining immediate visceral action and tactical depth. Everyone who pre-ordered the Oculus Rift headset prior to its launch received a free copy of the EVE: Valkyrie Founder’s Pack, which is available today for separate purchase for $59.99 via the Oculus Store.
Work is already underway on the first major free update to EVE: Valkyrie, which will include an entirely new game mode, Carrier Assault. CCP will continue to deliver new maps, modes, ships, and other free content updates to the game over time, working closely with the game’s Founders.
EVE: Valkyrie will also launch with the PlayStation VR headset for PlayStation®4 in October 2016.
ABOUT GUNJACK
In Gunjack, players take on the role of a gun turret operator on a mining vessel in the Outer Ring region of known space. As part of the ship’s defense team, it is up to the player to protect the rig from pirates, opportunists and anyone else looking to take what rightfully belongs to the company.
Gunjack has been the top-selling game on the Samsung Gear VR since its launch in November 2015, and according to VRFocus.com, the game is “easily the most visually impressive and overall responsive gallery shooter on Gear VR.”
For its debut on PCs, Gunjack adds higher-resolution graphics, an enhanced audio experience, vastly improved textures, models, and effects, achievements, leaderboards and more, but will keep the same price of $9.99. Gunjack will be available later in 2016 for the HTC Vive VR headset and PlayStation VR.
