Archiact and E McNeill have joined forces to bring Darknet, the award-winning cyberpunk hacking game, to PlayStation VR in early 2017.
When the Archiact team was offered the opportunity to team up with the creator of a game they loved and build upon an already-proven title, they jumped right in. Darknet was then refined and tailored for PlayStation VR, and now boasts several new improvements exclusive to PS VR. Full audio integration has been added for the PS4 Dualshock controller, bringing another layer of immersion to the up-close-and-personal hacking experience. Players will notice art enhancements to areas such as the in-network nodes, the user interface, and the main menu. All-new PS VR trophies have also been added for players to hunt down and collect.
Winning accolades such as the Protos Awards’ “Best Gameplay” and “Grand Prize” in the Oculus and Indiecade VR Jam, Darknet was released on the Oculus Rift in 2016. Since then, the title has earned praise from critics and a devoted online community. Players will find themselves immersed in the darkest corners of cyberspace with entire networks waiting to be hacked; using an arsenal of digital tools, it’s a race against the clock to collect data and conquer the deep web. Darknet offers clever, challenging gameplay to players of all skill levels, and brings the kind of immersion that truly makes VR feel like the tech breakthrough it is.
“The best part about a collaborative effort between passionate developers is the osmosis of knowledge and skills that inevitably takes place,” Renee Klint, Community Manager at Archiact, wrote in a recent PlayStation blog. “Now that Archiact is charging full-force into our biggest year yet, we loved the chance to work closely with E and his indie ethos. The end result is a fresh take on a classic, with subtle yet impactful improvements—we know you’ll love it!”
Darknet will be available for $14.99 on PlayStation VR in early 2017.
