Two former EA developers have established multi-media company Zygobot and published their first game “Divey Jones Ocean Odyssey” for iOS and Android devices, available now in the iTunes and Google Play stores.
“Divey Jones Ocean Odyssey” is a casual game where the player takes on the role of Divey Jones, a maritime hero who must explore the depths of the ocean in search of treasure. While on his quest, Divey is confronted by a multitude of friendly and unfriendly creatures and must gather air in order to survive, finding along the way hidden mystery fish and stars to redeem for collectables in the “gift shop”. The game includes a combination of puzzle-based levels where the player must navigate to the treasure as well as “deep dives” that progressively get deeper.
“’Divey Jones’ is something we think audiences of all ages will appreciate due to its simple ‘built for tilt’ gameplay and progressive platformer-style challenges where learning patterns is key to player success,” said designer and co-founder Roy Papp. “ And we wanted to avoid the current trend of freemium games by giving the player everything needed to succeed for a flat 99c!”
Papp and co-founder John Amos, both currently on faculty at Full Sail University, said that the company itself has been incorporated for the purpose of creating multi-media experiences for gamers and non-gamers alike and to make those experiences appeal to all ages.
“Having close to 40 years of game industry experience together,” said Amos, “we have accrued a wealth of knowledge and have compiled a backlog of ideas that we would like to explore. From point-and-click adventures to animated shorts, these concepts inspire us and hopefully that enthusiasm will carry over to the consumer.”
