Independent developer Mousechief Co. is thrilled to announce that its upcoming game, 7 Grand Steps for Windows and Macintosh, is a 2013 Indie Game Festival finalist. Out of nearly 600 entrants, 7 Grand Steps was chosen for the IGF’s Nuovo category and received an honorable mention for narrative. To celebrate, Mousechief has released the first playable demo for Windows and Macintosh from the official website, 7GrandSteps.com.
7 Grand Steps is a unique casual game: part board game, part interactive narrative, part historical simulation. Via numerous text vignettes that add up to the length of two full novels, the game tells the story of western ancestors and how they influence our lives today. From the sweat of laborers to the perspective of kings, experience the drama of a family lineage that survived the changing ages… or did they survive? How you guide them will determine their fate.
7 Grand Steps offers a board game mechanic to advance a rich, intimate story. Playing dozens of generations across four social classes that change with the ages, you can discover up to 72 inventions that change the world, brave a score of heroic adventures, and face the challenges of three mini-ruling games.
Mousechief plans to release the final, full game this spring. Until then, enjoy the 7 Grand Steps demo—and make family history!
