(N.B. The monthly games chart is based on titles released and reviewed in the last month. The apps chart is based on titles reviewed over the last three months. Hence, this is not a cumulative chart and earlier released titles may have higher scores.)
Monument Valley has wowed, soothed, and befuddled its way to the top of the May Android Qi game chart. It’s a brain-twisting puzzler that tips its cone-shaped hat to M.C. Escher’s logic-defying art.
At #4, though, OTTTD takes the traditional tower defence template and ramps the action up to 11. It helps that it’s an absolute hoot to play, shot through with a deeply silly sense of humour.
Flapping closely behind that is Noodlecake’s Golfy Bird, the product of the infamous Flappy Jam game jam. This unlikely mash-up sees you tapping to stay aloft, Flappy Bird-style, through the courses of Super Stickman Golf 2.
Down in seventh spot, meanwhile,we have CastleStorm – Free to Siege. It’s an unexpectedly successful conversion of a console game in which Zen Studios marries tower offence, hack ‘n’ slash action, and Angry Birds-like destruction.
Sailing Home tops the May Android Qi app chart. It’s a fun educational app that teaches pre-school kids all about animal habitats.
Phogy is close behind with its innovative 3D photo app. The resulting snaps move when you move the smartphone, giving your images a real sense of depth – which is perfect for creating stunning custom wallpapers.
Down in fifth spot, the Eye-Fi app ties in with the Eye-Fi SDHC device to grant any digital camera the power of wireless photo sharing. No wi-fi connection required!
At #6, meanwhile, we have Photo Studio from KVADGroup. This smart app is a powerful image processor tool for touching up and adding effects to your images – all through an attractive and intuitive interface. Cheeeeeese!!
