Topping October’s Android Qi games chart is Reaper – Tale of a Pale Swordsman, which marks the triumphant return of Hexage. This time around, the esteemed developer has created a compelling action-RPG with neat bite-sized levels. At #2, however, Empire has been impressing ‘droid critics the world over with its incredibly mobile-friendly blend of strategy, boardgame, and deck-building elements. Nothing so serious in third place this month, mind, with Dumb Ways to Day delighting all with its 15 madcap mini-games. Tap and flick your way to victory in this impossibly polished timewaster. Sticking with the humorous theme, you have to beat up bears in Nicoll Hunt’s retro beat-’em-up Fist of Awesome. As you do.

Zorbit’s Math Preschool tops the October Android Qi app chart with a familiar approach. Yep, educating young kids without their even realising it. Its light mathematical posers are mixed stealthily into an entertaining sci-fi story, you see. At #2, meanwhile, we have Thuuz Sports, an app that helps US users keep up to date with the latest goings on in sport. Its maker does so by smartly notifying you of the games and match-ups on which to keep an eye. By contrast, JustResizeIt! enables you to re-size your photos on the fly, then share them with your friends and family. Finally, there’s AirCover Security, an all-in-one Android security app whose creator claims it contains the benefits of Lookout and Kapersky, with anti-virus, anti-theft, and call blocker capabilities built in.
