Feral Interactive today announced that the acclaimed historical strategy game Empire: Total War™ is now available for Linux. Developed by Creative Assembly™ and published by SEGA® for Windows, Empire: Total War is the second game to be developed and published for Linux by Feral Interactive, following the success of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Empire: Total War places the series’ prized elements of real-time tactics and turn-based strategy against the turbulent backdrop of the 18th century. Exploring grand themes such as the Industrial Revolution, America’s struggle for independence, the race to control Asian trade routes, and the globalization of war on land and sea, the game charges players with the fortunes of a nation and challenges them to establish it as the world’s dominant power.
The Linux version of Empire: Total War is a Steam Play title that supports Ubuntu 14.04.1 and Valve’s SteamOS.
The release of Empire: Total War on Linux is accompanied by four add-on unit packs and The Warpath Campaign expansion, which challenges players to command one of five Native American factions defending their lands from invaders. This additional content will be available separately, or together with the base game in the Empire: Total War Collection.
“Empire: Total War is a fantastic game with vast scope and depth,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “It rewards ingenuity, dedication and daring, which should suit Linux gamers perfectly!”
