Puzzle gamers looking for a head-scratchingly, phone-tiltingly good time have had their prayers answered today with the release of Tilt: Quill’s Quandary, a new mobile puzzle game available exclusively on the App Store. Tilt: Quill’s Quandary challenges players to control both their hedgehog hero and the environment by tilting their iPhone or iPad.
“They say there’s only room for one hedgehog in video games, but with a certain blue speed demon having cornered the market on platforming, isn’t there room for a slower, more pensive hedgehog to solve puzzles?” asks the game’s creator, Noah Rosenfield. “I’d certainly like to think so, and I hope the trademark office agrees.”
Players will guide their hero, Captain Quill, through a series of increasingly difficult stages solely through the use of tilt-based mechanics. Players tilt a little to move Captain Quill, or tilt a lot to move the game’s environment and help their hedgehog friend reach the exit.
“Having a second video game hedgehog was inevitable,” adds Rosenfield. “It’s just science. For every hedgehog there is an equal and opposite hedgehog. Plus, when your name is ‘Noah’ you’ve got an innate desire to keep these little guys (and all animals, really) in pairs. We’re all in this boat together, and I think there’s room enough for two.”
Like the spiky bits he’s named after, Captain Quill’s wits are sharp. Yours will need to be too if you want to complete all of Tilt’s one hundred levels.
Tilt: Quill’s Quandary is available on the App Store now for a launch sale price of $1.99, and offers no in-app purchases. Pay once, play forever.
