Beautiful Point-And-Click Narrative, The Shopkeeper, Coming Soon to PC!

verse publications are thrilled to announce their partnership with Mastertronic to bring their debut point-and-click adventure game, The Shopkeeper, to PC this October.

Welcome to the enchanting world of curiosities in The Shopkeeper, where a humble antiques shop forms a Pandora’s box of treasures and each unique item comes with its own hidden past – some quirky, some macabre. Delve into the hidden depths to reveal a fascinating storyline and source the right gift for a customer’s fussy relative. Choose wisely and be careful what you touch as you will face a number of unexpected consequences!

Described as a fusion between ‘the Twilight Zone, classic LucasArts adventures, and the Antiques Roadshow’, The Shopkeeper is a short-form multi-path game, designed for several play-throughs. It centres on a fascinating narrative wrapped in the veil of a graphic novel, beautifully drawn by comic artist James Brothwell. Co-written by director Tom De Roeck and veteran RPG designer James Wallis (recently announced as lead designer on the new edition of classic 1980s game Paranoia), The Shopkeeper is an interactive short that will keep players on their toes, as each new layer is unearthed.

Tom De Roeck, co-writer, verse publications, says, “After working closely with Mastertronic at the Radius festival, it was a no-brainer to sign with these guys. I think The Shopkeeper is in the best hands!”

Andy Payne, CEO, Mastertronic, says, “We are incredibly humbled to be working with such a talented and creative group of games developers. We all love Lucas Arts games and I was brought up on The Twilight Zone. Adding in some ‘Antiques Roadshow’ touches completes what has to be the holy trinity of adventure games.”

“Writing The Shopkeeper was a delightful challenge,” said James Wallis, co-writer, verse publications. “For a narrative designer, something like this is refreshingly different – a maze of twisty little passages, linked in clever ways that make repeated play-throughs essential.”

The Shopkeeper will be coming to PC, Mac and Linux this October.
