Age of Empires: Definitive Edition unveiled during E3’s PC Gaming Show

The original Age of Empires celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and we’re joining in the celebration with this new, lovingly remastered version of the game that started the legendary series all the way back in 1997. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition has all-new graphics, remastered sound and music, and a smooth UI experience rebuilt from the ground up.

It has been 20 years since the original Age of Empires saw the light and helped shape the RTS genre as we know it today. No better tribute to this pioneering game in the series than to give it a full remaster for its 20th anniversary. Featuring fully upgraded 4K art assets and visual effects, completely new narration throughout, a remastered soundtrack and hundreds of rebuilt sound effects! The game will include single player and multiplayer modes, as well as a classic mode for when you just need to get the look and feel of that good old AoE!

This announcement was part of the PC Gaming show at E3. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is being developed by Forgotten Empires and published by Microsoft Studios.
