GiAnt, a fun filled first-person platformer from the indie solo developer at ‘Wreck Tangle Games’. Solve puzzles, find candy, grab loot, initiate power ups and deter enemies, all while navigating around ginormous human sized worlds! Sounds dangerous? I’m on board!
GiAnt puts you in control of our squeaky voiced protagonist, Adam the Ant (*yes, ants have names and voices, that is why AntVenture is the correct term, not simulator), as he tries to collect Candy for the nest. Born five minutes before, Adam is thrown out into an enormous human sized world with only his little legs to run (And my gosh you’ll be doing a lot of that) and a few power ups conveniently scattered around the levels. Power ups announced so far are ‘Decoy Ant’, a little air canister which can be activated to blow up a balloon version of yourself, before it pops enemies will follow this rather than you. Also announced are ‘matches’, which will allow you to get your own back on the insects chasing you by chasing them with fire!
The developer, Adam Reed, started creating GiAnt in August 2015, which was meant to be a simple “you are ant, collect things” game, but blossomed into a fast paced, dangerous, unpredictable delight! With enemies chasing you round every corner and new enemies popping up after every puzzle solved. More than the other ant simulators GiAnt really details the danger of being an ant. Yes you have the standard collecting feature that any ant game would have but with such a level danger you can’t help but be frightened. You may be able to see the glorious candy piece ahead of you, but there will four spiders and 6 Flies blocking your path to it.
In December Adam featured GiAnt on Steam GreenLight, where it was up online for gamers to vote on for only three weeks before being Green Lit. To celebrate, a demo was released and featured on Steam and Gamejolt.

After a mix up at birth, Adam joins the female worker ants in there battle to collect food for the nest. Adam gets nominated as the sweet collecting ant, the most challenging of all food collecting teams as those fatty humans do not often drop these little delectables. Adam must roam vast human sized worlds hunting for those goodies that have been littered by man, but not all treasures are just lying around, obstacles and challenges will get in your way at every corner. Plus, you’re not the only one looking for food either, while collecting our tiny hero must avoid other insects and vermin who are hunting for the same thing (*and don’t forget those pesky humans).
You are not alone against these challenges though, other ants from your colony will help with tips, items and will even pull together to create ‘Ant bridges’ across deadly drops. Along with them you are also equipped with your ‘Antdar’. A natural radar that all ant’s possess, this will help you find the next candy piece, your friends and even help you avoid enemies too. Don’t forget those power ups scattered around the worlds too! Jumping higher or running faster may come in useful.
