Haunting mystery adventure The Piano gets new trailer (Video)

Third-person mystery action-adventure coming to Steam in early 2017

Several hours of survival/puzzle mechanics in a haunting 1940s Paris

New trailer shows Noir-inspired aesthetic and genre-melding gameplay

Mistaken Visions are pleased to announce today the release of a new trailer for The Piano. Five years in the making, The Piano is a mystery adventure set in 1940s Paris, which combines puzzle-solving, survival horror and a haunting, deeply personal storyline.

The game sees players step into the shoes of John Barnerway, a failed pianist born to German and American parents who migrated to Paris before the Second World War. Torn apart by the death of his celebrity brothers, John is hounded by the media as they scrutinise their unexplained demise. As John battles his own demons, he sets out to solve the mystery once and for all – searching the streets of Paris for clues, while navigating the darkest corners of his own mind.

The game will be released in January 2017 via Steam.

Creator Jonathan Stemmildt said: “I had a clear vision for the sort of game I wanted to make, but I set out to prove is that you don’t need a gigantic budget to make a game that finds even a small audience who understand what it is looking to achieve. We wanted to create a good mix of retro Resident Evil-style survival horror, modern horror such as Amnesia, and the unusual storytelling of Dear Esther. I hope people think we’ve achieved that.”
