The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse, Desert Owl Games’ episodic RPG with collectible card game elements and choose-your-own-adventure-style storytelling inspired by Univeral Pictures’ Huntsman saga, is now available on Windows and Mac. The first episode is free to play, while the second and third books are available for purchase. Book 4 and 5 will arrive in May. The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse will also arrive on PlayStation 4 later in 2016.
Set in a surreal animated world, The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse features an original storyline featuring many characters from Snow White and the Huntsman as well as The Huntsman: Winter’s War, in theaters April 22, 2016.
In The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse, players follow Elisabeth’s quest to fulfill her father’s dying wish by reuniting with her long-lost brothers. During her journey, Elisabeth crosses paths with Marcus, a mysterious, magical young man who harbors ulterior motives to help her find her siblings.
When foes are crossed in battle, players draw randomized equipment cards and use their corresponding actions to persevere in active time battles. Elizabeth and Marcus will face off against ravenous creatures, dangerous sorcerers and even spar with Eric, the most elite Huntsman in the world.
As players win battles and traverse The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse’s enchanted world, they’ll make decisions that guide the game’s dynamic storytelling. Players may also find a third party member to ally with Elisabeth and Marcus in battle, including fellow humans, dwarves or supernatural beings.
Aside from the free first book, books 2 – 5 will be priced at $4.99 each.
