Lockwood Publishing, developer and publisher of Avakin Life, the largest 3D virtual world on mobile, today announces its mobile app will be available on Google’s new Daydream platform. Avakin Life, which allows players to meet and compete as avatars, has seen its active user base double in size every 6 months for the last 2 years. ÒWe believe in the massive market potential of mobile VR, and our decision is a natural extension of our roadmap to provide an immersive experience on devices that support the Daydream platform,” observes Halli Bjornsson, Founder and CEO of Lockwood Publishing.
Instead of building a separate community from scratch, Lockwood Publishing embraces the new platform to provide users a great experience no matter if they are playing on an ordinary smartphone or on a Daydream-ready device. Bjornsson explains: “Either way, users will be able to meet and communicate with thousands of other players in this 3D world. The choice will be how immersive they want the experience to be.Ó.
About Avakin Life:
Avakin Life is a 3D world developed and published by Lockwood Publishing. The mobile app allows players to chat with each other, and choose from more than 7,000 virtual items in order to design and personalize their unique avatar, decorate their virtual apartments, and even learn cool dance moves to impress other virtual world inhabitants. Since the app launched in 2013 the company counts more than 18 million installs (as of October 2016). In 2016 Lockwood Publishing opened a second studio in Brighton, U.K., focussed on enhancing AI and VR to improve the app experience.
