Today, Channel 4 is to bring its latest River Cottage series, River Cottage To The Core to life in a brand new game for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The delectable series, currently airing on Wednesday evenings is fronted by Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall and rips up the cookery rule book to show just how deliciously fruit can enhance and transform meat, fish and pudding dishes.
Developed for players of all ages, from beginners through to experts , the free-to-play game will present a cunning culinary challenge set by Hugh himself in a variety of animated, yet very familiar River Cottage settings – the kitchen, the hedgerow, the orchard and the garden.
Players must identify an array of food-related items from the commoner spring onion and Cep mushrooms to saucepans and ladles against the clock in order to access over a selection of delicious fruity recipes, which players can then recreate at home.
As well as several locations and elusive ingredients to unlock, the fastest foragers can also win time bonus points. These extras can also be attained by making in-app purchases.
The River Cottage To The Core game was commissioned by Colin Macdonald, Commissioning Editor for Games at Channel 4 and created by Keo Digital and Swindon-based game developers Evil Twin Artworks.
Simon Deverell, Creative Director of Keo Digital comments “Working with Channel 4 and Evil Twin, we’ve created an engaging, educational and fun game, which we hope will introduce River Cottage to new audiences.” James Carroll, Owner at Evil Twin adds ‘We are big River Cottage fans, so when the chance came to work on this, we couldn’t wait to say yes! ‘
