British game publisher Chilled Mouse announced today that their anticipated music puzzle title Chime Sharp is now available on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux. Chime Sharp returns as a bolder and more polished version of the critically acclaimed original Chime and brings players a unique crossover between music and interaction. While players logically position various shapes on the grid, the passing beatline reads formed blocks as notes all the while remixing popular electronic music tunes.
“Chime Sharp represents the next step in the path that Ste Curran and Zoë Mode took with the original game,” said Ian Baverstock, CEO of Chilled Mouse. “Our goal now, as it was then, is to have players engage with and remix quality music through compelling gameplay, seamlessly blending the two elements. We’re so proud of the roster of musicians we got to work with for Chime Sharp, and we hope players will feel the same way when they start remixing those amazing tunes themselves!”
Chime Sharp delivers a unique take on tetris-like experience incorporating music as an essential part of the gameplay. The melodic ambience is created by the lineup of the most distinguished international electronic music artists: Kavinsky, CHVRCHES, Steve Reich, Los, Chipzel, Andy Hung, Message to Bears, Timothy Schmalz, Magic Sword, Shirobon, Noveller, Haiku Salut, Luc Grey, A Mote of Dust, and Symbion Project.
“I was absolutely thrilled to work on Chime Sharp. It’s a fantastic little game that perfectly combines music sequencing with challenging gameplay”, said Niamh Houston, aka Chipzel. “My track “Psychonaut” was created with the gameplay in mind – entwining multiple layers that progressively build to compliment the final arrangement and written with the intention of awarding the player as they advance, through evocative melodies and euphoric transitions.”
About Chime Sharp
Described as a crossover between a music sequencer and Tetris, Chime Sharp tasks players to place various shapes together in a race against the clock, while the passing beatline reads the blocks as notes, remixing melodies from various pop songs. The goal is to cover the whole playing grid by completing quads of 3×3 or more and generate points while enjoying melodic works by musicians from around the world. With a brand new song list, fifteen unique levels and experimental modes, the beloved Chime is finally back and ready to shine in its complete makeover.
