Funcom today announced that the beloved and critically acclaimed adventure game The Longest Journey® is now available in the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
First released on Windows PC in 1999, The Longest Journey was met with rave reviews and is still considered one of the greatest adventure games ever made. At the time GameSpot proclaimed it to be ‘one of the best adventure games in years’, bestowing upon it a ‘Game of the Year’ award. IGN handed it an ‘Editor’s Choice’ award, saying ‘…the game ranks up there as one of my favorite entertainment titles of all time, not just out of video games, but of all media.’
Spanning over 150 locations and more than 50 hours of gameplay, the game features a gripping storyline and a huge cast of fully-voiced characters. With the power to move between worlds like others move from waking to sleep, April Ryan must embark on the longest journey of her life; a journey not only across twin worlds, but also into her very own heart and soul. The iOS version of the game features new controls customized for mobile devices, a dynamic help system and a new intro and outro narrated by series creator Ragnar Tørnquist.
The Longest Journey is the first game in the critically acclaimed adventure saga, and this year Mr. Tørnquist and his team at Red Thread Games launched, under license from Funcom, Dreamfall Chapters®, an episode-based third entry into the beloved series. Tørnquist himself is excited to see Funcom bringing ‘The Longest Journey’ to mobile devices:
“There is no doubt The Longest Journey lends itself perfectly to mobile and tablet devices, it plays really well,” says Ragnar Tørnquist. “This release will open up The Longest Journey universe to a whole new audience, but it’s also a great way for veterans to experience the adventure again. It’s a great springboard into Dreamfall® and ‘Dreamfall Chapters!”
The Longest Journey: Remastered® is now available through the App Store worldwide.
