Out this week: Word Cats (Video)

At Mana Cube, we are strong believers that unpredictability brings truly great things. This is why, after making “Dungeon Monsters”, a dungeon crawler RPG, the logical next step was … a word game with cats.

Today, we are proud to introduce Word Cats, a free game challenging you to make as many words as you can under 30 seconds. It is Mana Cube’s first effort at a lightweight, quick-play casual game. As a 4 people team, we believe our capacity is best spent on highly polished, self-contained experiences. Word Cats will be available wordlwide on January 26, 2017.

Word Cats focuses on a simple, core gameplay by dealing away with the overwhelming load of social and competition features generally associated with word games. A game of Word Cats is as simple as tapping the home screen, playing, and seeing your score at the end. There are no friend lists, no game modes, no dry and complicated menus.

The gameplay itself feels fresh too ! Each correct word the player makes grants 5 seconds of extra time, and the grid of letters is fully reset. There are over 40 cute cat avatars to collect, who react through a range of emotions including cheering, sulking or winking.

And lastly, the game is fully localized in 16 languages to allow players from all around the world to enjoy Word Cats in their native language. Each language dictionnary lists over 200,000 words including every possible grammatical or inflection form. The full list of 16 languages is English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Indonesian, Malaysian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish.
