PeopleGottaPlay launches “Thick Air” to Early Access (Video)

Russian indie game development studio PeopleGottaPlay launches its sci-fi drone racing, Thick Air, into Steam Early Access programme.

Thick Air 0.1 alpha release features 4 drones, Red Canyon location including 4 tracks of varying difficulty, several racing modes including free roam, split-screen play and VR support. PeopleGottaPlay has regular small feature updates planned, with full motion controller support, cockpit view and online multiplayer being the priority, as well as big monthly content updates with new locations, tracks and drone packs. Demo has been released a week earlier, featuring one playable track, one drone, split-screen play and VR support.

Demo is available for downloading from Thick Air Steam Store page.

Community is encouraged to join the discussion, as developers listen to all feedback and are ready to incorporate community suggested features into the game. Two of them – VR comfort options and alternative control schemes – already have been integrated during alpha demo phase.

About Thick Air
Thick Air is about the world devoid of human life where sentient machines are left to simulate the life they once knew. With no one to watch them, racers, the lowest caste of drone society, compete each other to eternity across various landscapes and settings. Thick Air drone design is inspired by automobile era of late XX century. The game features physics-based flying model, competetive AI and VR support. PeopleGottaPlay got plans to introduce drone visual and performance damage, performance tuning, visual customization and upgrades, as well as VR motion controllers and HOTAS joystick support.

Reviews
“The world of Thick Air is set after the mass human extinction… If that’s not enough backstory to get you interested in a racing game, then you’re probably dead inside.”

“Thick Air brings flight simulator style tightness of control to a rally-like aerial drone racing game.”
